Firestop Putty for Penetrations

3M MP+STICK is a moldable fire barrier putty stick designed to seal around cables, ducts and insulated or metal pipes. The red-brown putty conforms to irregular openings and provides a tested fire rating of up to four hours. It meets ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) and CAN/ULC S115 standards for through-penetration firestop systems.

Not for Non-Firestop Sealing

This product is not intended for general gap filling, acoustic insulation or weatherproofing where a fire rating is not required. Builders needing structural adhesives, expanding foams or non-rated caulks should select a different material. The putty stick format suits targeted repairs but does not replace bulk firestop compounds for large commercial installations.

Questions about this item

What diameter opening does the 1.5 inch putty stick fit?

The stick is 1.5 inches in diameter and moulds to seal cables, ducts and insulated or metal pipes in openings of that size.

Which fire-test standard should I follow when installing this putty?

Install to ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) or CAN/ULC S115; the common mistake is leaving gaps — press the putty firmly so it contacts all surfaces for the rated seal.
