Ready-to-install lamp module

This Optoma BL-FP240D lamp arrives as a fully assembled bulb and housing unit, so it fits directly into compatible Optoma projectors without extra assembly. The P-VIP 240W bulb is pre-aligned in its cage, reducing the risk of misalignment during replacement. Installation typically requires only opening the lamp door and sliding the module into place. No special tools are needed beyond a screwdriver for the door latch.

Installation pitfalls to avoid

Touching the glass envelope with bare fingers leaves oils that create hot spots and shorten lamp life; always handle the housing by its frame. Forcing the module into the projector can bend connector pins or crack the housing tabs. Forgetting to reset the lamp-hour counter after fitting the new unit will cause premature replacement warnings. Ensure the lamp door is fully latched, or the safety interlock will prevent the projector from powering on.

Practical limits of the P-VIP interface

The 240W P-VIP bulb is rated for 3000 hours in normal mode and 5000 hours in economy mode; brightness will gradually decline across that span. Economy mode reduces light output, so it may not suit rooms with high ambient light. The lamp operates at a fixed wattage, so it cannot be dimmed below the economy setting. Projectors not designed for this specific BL-FP240D module will not accept it mechanically or electrically.
