Pressure-sensitive adhesive sanding discs with aluminum oxide grit for metal deburring, blending and finishing, 80 grit, pack of 10
These 3M PSA cloth discs use a pressure-sensitive adhesive that bonds securely to a backup pad or steel platen for quick changeovers. Aluminum oxide grain in a closed coat delivers a fast cut on metal during grinding and dual-action sanding. The heat-resistant resin bond and durable cloth backing suit high-heat, heavy-duty deburring, blending, and finishing tasks. Pack contains ten discs for extended shop use.
Switching to these cloth-backed discs is worthwhile when paper backings tear under heavy pressure or when open-coat abrasives load too quickly on metal. The resin-bonded cloth construction resists heat buildup and edge wear better than lighter paper alternatives. The jump pays off for jobs that demand sustained stock removal on steel or alloy surfaces without frequent disc changes.
The pressure-sensitive adhesive requires a clean, flat backup pad or platen; contamination or curved surfaces reduce holding power and can cause disc shift. An 80-grit rating leaves a visible scratch pattern that requires finer steps for a polished finish, so these discs are not suited for final surface preparation alone. Closed-coat loading eventually slows cut rate on soft or gummy metals.
