Adds 16 GB of DDR3L 1866 MHz memory to a Late 2015 27-inch iMac using four 4 GB SODIMM modules
This 16 GB kit contains four 4 GB DDR3L SODIMM modules rated at 1866 MHz PC3-14900 and 1.35 V. It is built for the Apple iMac Retina 5K 27-inch Late 2015 (model ID iMac17,1, EMC 2834, order numbers MK462LL/A, MK472LL/A, MK482LL/A).
Filling all four slots with matched 1Rx8 unbuffered modules lets the memory controller run in quad-channel mode, raising bandwidth for multitasking and large-file workflows. The low-voltage DDR3L parts also reduce heat output compared with standard 1.5 V DDR3.
The iMac 27-inch Late 2015 requires removing the display assembly to reach the SO-DIMM slots, so anti-static precautions and a suction-cup tool are essential. Common issues include seating modules unevenly, which causes a boot chime loop, and mixing these sticks with existing 1.5 V DDR3, which forces the bus to the higher voltage and can destabilise the system.

The kit runs at the standard 1.35 V DDR3L voltage used by the iMac (Late 2015), so no manual adjustment is required and the modules are designed for the system's full service life.
The iMac's memory controller caps operation at 1866/1867 MHz, so the modules will not exceed that speed even under continuous load.
The unbuffered DDR3L SODIMMs have no heat spreaders and draw only 1.35 V, so they add minimal thermal load and do not increase fan speed in the iMac's chassis.
