Six 4 GB DDR3 1066 ECC UDIMM modules adding 24 GB to compatible 2009-2010 Mac Pro and Xserve systems
This 24 GB kit contains six 4 GB DDR3 1066 ECC UDIMM modules built for Apple Mac Pro Early 2009 8-Core, Mac Pro Mid 2010 8-Core, Xserve Early 2009 4-Core and 8-Core systems. It targets owners of those machines who need the maximum supported memory for virtualization, large media projects or scientific workloads.
The kit replaces the original 1 GB or 2 GB sticks that shipped with these Macs, letting you populate all six slots with 4 GB modules for a full 24 GB configuration. The upgrade is worth it when your current memory pressure forces frequent paging or limits the number of concurrent virtual machines. Systems already running 24 GB will not benefit from this kit.
Modules slide into the 240-pin UDIMM slots without tools, but Apple's service manual requires a specific population order across the two riser cards for proper operation. The most common issue is inserting modules in the wrong sequence, which causes the system to recognise only part of the memory or fail to boot.

Yes, these 240-pin DDR3 ECC UDIMM modules are designed for the Mac Pro (Early 2009, 8-Core) and Mac Pro (Mid 2010, 8-Core) which use the MacPro4,1 and MacPro5,1 model IDs.
Install modules in matched pairs starting with the lowest numbered slots on each riser card; the common mistake is placing single modules across risers instead of filling pairs per riser.
Each 4GB module is individually tested and covered by the lifetime warranty, so a single failed stick can be replaced without returning the entire 24GB kit.
