Acasis TBU 405 Pro NVMe Enclosure

The Acasis TBU 405 Pro is a portable NVMe enclosure with a built-in cooling fan and aluminium shell. It accepts M.2 drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes using B+M or M-key interfaces. The unit connects through Thunderbolt and USB interfaces for broad system support.

Thunderbolt 40Gbps connectivity

A JHL7440 controller provides dual-chip operation for stable data transfers up to 40Gbps. The enclosure works with Windows, macOS and Linux, including M1 Pro and Max Macs and iPad Pro models. It falls back to USB 3.2, 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0 speeds when connected to older ports. No drive is included in the package.

Active cooling and measured transfer rates

The integrated fan and ventilation holes dissipate heat from the aluminium body during sustained workloads. In testing with a 980 EVO Plus drive on a MacBook Pro, sequential reads reached 2805MB/s and writes reached 2734MB/s. Actual throughput varies with the host system and the installed SSD. The compact black chassis is designed for travel use.

Questions about this item

Does the JHL7440 chip throttle during sustained 40 Gbps transfers?

The enclosure uses a JHL7440 dual-chip controller with an integrated cooling fan and aluminium shell to maintain stable throughput under continuous load.

How loud is the built-in fan during all-day operation?

A switchable fan is mounted inside the aluminium chassis; it spins up to move air through the dissipation holes and can be turned off when silent running is preferred.

Which host ports can actually deliver the advertised 40 Gbps link?

Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 3 ports provide the full 40 Gbps bandwidth; USB4, USB 3.2, 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0 fall back to their respective speed limits.
