Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 convertible laptop

This Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is a 14.0-inch convertible laptop running Chrome OS. It uses a 15th Gen Ultra 5 115U processor with 8 cores and a 4.2 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 8GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. A 60Hz touchscreen display with 1920x1200 resolution supports pen and touch input.

Suited for cloud-first workflows.

The device suits students and professionals who rely on web apps, Android apps and Linux containers. The 8GB memory and integrated Intel Graphics limit performance in video editing, 3D rendering or large local databases. Buyers who need more memory, discrete graphics or Windows-specific software should look at something else.

8GB LPDDR5 soldered memory cannot be upgraded

The single specification that decides fit is the 8GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory. It is not user-replaceable and no expansion slot is present. If your workflow regularly exceeds this capacity, this model will throttle or swap. Choose a different system if you cannot work within that constraint.

Questions about this item

Does the 8 GB LPDDR5 memory limit multitasking under sustained Chrome OS workloads?

The 8 GB LPDDR5 is soldered and cannot be expanded, so heavy multitasking with many tabs or Android apps may hit the ceiling during long sessions.

How loud or hot does the 14.0" Spin 714 get when the Ultra 5 115U runs at 4.2 GHz all day?

The 3‑cell 53 Whr battery and 65 W Type‑C supply feed a fan‑cooled chassis that stays quiet for typical tasks; sustained turbo raises surface temperature but stays within comfort limits.

Which peripherals need the two Thunderbolt 4 ports to work with this Chromebook?

External NVMe drives, 4K displays, docks and high‑speed accessories use the Thunderbolt 4 ports; HDMI handles a second monitor and the combo jack covers audio.
