17.3 165Hz Raider laptop

The Acer Nitro 17 Raider is a 17.3 inch Full HD IPS gaming laptop with a 165Hz refresh rate. It runs on an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS 8-core processor that reaches a 5.1 GHz turbo frequency. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with 8GB GDDR6 handles graphics. The system ships with 32GB DDR5 memory and a 2TB PCIe SSD under Windows 11 Home.

Thermals and power in daily use

The chassis measures 15.78 by 10.85 by 0.94 inches and weighs 6 lbs, giving the cooling system room to move air around the 8845HS and RTX 4060. In typical mixed workloads the fans stay audible but not intrusive, and the power draw tracks the 45 watt CPU base with GPU boost headroom. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 maintain connectivity without adding thermal load.

Ports and software extras

Physical I/O includes one HDMI 2.1, one audio combo jack, two USB Type-A 3.2, one USB Type-C 3.2 and one RJ-45 for wired networks. A backlit keyboard and 720p webcam support late-night sessions and calls. The supplier opens the factory seal only for the listed memory and storage configuration, then reseals the unit with a one-year warranty on those upgrades alongside the original manufacturer coverage.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 32GB DDR5 memory and which step do people get wrong?

The laptop ships with 32GB DDR5 already installed in the two SO-DIMM slots. To upgrade, remove the bottom cover, release the retention clips, insert the new modules at an angle until they click, then reseat the cover. The step people get wrong is forgetting to press both clips fully down so the modules lock in place.

What maintenance or replacement will the 2TB PCIe SSD need later?

The 2TB PCIe SSD has no moving parts and requires no scheduled maintenance. Under heavy write workloads its NAND cells will eventually wear out; when SMART tools report declining health or reallocated sectors, replace the drive with another PCIe M.2 module.

What limit shows up first on the RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 during sustained gaming?

The 8GB GDDR6 frame buffer fills before the GPU core hits its thermal ceiling in modern titles at 1920 x 1080, forcing texture streaming and lowering 1% low frame rates.
