A 50 mm flex cable that replaces the standard 150 mm Raspberry Pi Camera ribbon for tighter builds
This 50 mm flex cable replaces the stock 150 mm ribbon on a Raspberry Pi Camera or NoIR board. It connects directly to the CSI connector on the Pi after opening the latch. Each order supplies a single cable; the camera board and Raspberry Pi are not included.
At 50 mm long and 16 mm wide the ribbon fits tight enclosures where the standard 150 mm cable would bunch or obstruct other components. The thin profile adds negligible weight and requires no additional power or cooling considerations.
The flexible printed circuit maintains stable camera data transmission during extended recording or streaming sessions. No active components are present so thermal output and noise remain absent regardless of workload duration.

Open the Pi's connector latch gently, insert the cable with contacts facing the board, then close the latch. The common mistake is forcing the cable in before the latch is fully open.
The cable itself has no moving parts and requires no scheduled maintenance. Replace it only if the flex creases, the contacts corrode, or the connector latch on the Pi breaks.
The 50mm length fixes the camera 50mm from the board; signal integrity is not a concern at this distance, so the first limit is mechanical — repeated flexing can fatigue the copper traces.
