Accurate I2C temperature and humidity sensor with ±2% RH typical accuracy, on-board heater for condensation control, and thermal-isolation cutout for reliable readings from 0 to 70°C
The Adafruit HTU31 breakout board provides an I2C digital sensor for temperature and relative humidity measurements. It is designed for engineers, hobbyists and students who need a compact development tool for environmental monitoring projects. The board serves as an accurate and intelligent alternative to common DHT-series sensors.
The sensor delivers a typical accuracy of ±2% relative humidity across 20% to 100% at a temperature range of 0 to 70°C. Temperature output accuracy is ±0.2°C from 0 to 100°C. Operation outside the specified humidity range is still possible, though accuracy may drop slightly. The on-board heater can be toggled to evaporate condensation on the sensing element.
A thermal-isolation cut-out on the board reduces the influence of nearby circuitry heat on measurements. This design helps maintain consistent sensor performance during sustained operation. The controllable heater function manages condensation without adding continuous thermal load to the sensing element. Power draw remains minimal for typical low-power applications.

The sensor operates over 0 to 70 °C with typical accuracy of ±2 % relative humidity and ±0.2 °C temperature, drawing only microamps in normal use.
You need a microcontroller or single-board computer with an I2C bus and pull-up resistors on the SDA and SCL lines.
The HTU31 uses a fixed I2C address that differs from the HTU21D, so both can share the bus without address conflicts.
