Compact Arduino-compatible microcontroller board with native USB HID support, 16MHz clock, 17 digital pins and 28K flash memory
The ItsyBitsy 32u4 5V 16MHz is a tiny microcontroller board built around the ATmega32u4 chip in a QFN package. It runs at 5V logic with a 16MHz clock and provides 2KB of RAM plus 28K of flash memory. The board measures 1.4" by 0.7" and exposes 6 power pins, 6 analog & digital pins and 17 digital pins for a dense I/O count in a very small footprint.
This board suits developers who have validated a design on a larger Arduino and now need to shrink the finished project without losing pin count or USB capability. It is less suited for builders who need more storage or extra hardware peripherals beyond what the ATmega32u4 provides.
The ATmega32u4 includes native USB, so the board can enumerate as a HID keyboard, mouse, MIDI device or CDC serial port on any computer without an external USB-to-serial converter. This single feature decides whether the board fits a project that must talk directly to a host over USB.

This board runs at 5V logic and 16MHz, matching an Arduino Uno or Leonardo, so existing 5V shields and code work without level shifting.
It executes 16 million cycles per second, giving deterministic timing for motor control, audio sampling or bit‑banged protocols on the 17 digital pins.
The ATmega32u4 presents itself directly as a HID keyboard, mouse, MIDI or CDC serial device, so no extra USB‑to‑serial chip is needed and the board enumerates on any host.
