Socket holds SOIC-8 narrow chips on gold contacts for programming and testing, mounted on a 16-pin 0.6" DIP carrier for breadboard use
This socket lets you program and test any SOIC or SOP Narrow 8 pin chip in a 150mil wide body. The device clamps the chip against gold fingers for a secure electrical connection. It is mounted on a pair of PCBs that present a 16 pin DIP footprint with .6 inch spacing for breadboard use.
Verify that your breadboard accepts .6 inch row spacing before ordering. The socket measures 1.3 inches wide by 1.4 inches long, so confirm adequate space on your protoboard. Chips wider than 200mil will not fit this narrow body socket.
Engineers and hobbyists who need to evaluate SOIC-8 Narrow devices without soldering each one will find this tool useful. It is not suited for developers working with wider SOIC packages or pin counts beyond eight. Buyers who want a permanent surface-mount footprint should look at a different solution.

The product is the test socket only; you must provide the SOIC-8 Narrow chip you want to program or test.
It fits any SOIC/SOP Narrow 8-pin chip with a 150mil wide body; 200mil or wider chips will not fit.
The socket is mounted on two PCBs giving a 16-pin DIP with .6" spacing; use four pins on each side and ignore the other eight, which add mechanical stability.
