Threadripper 9980X workstation

This liquid-cooled tower pairs a 64-core AMD Threadripper 9980X processor with 512GB of DDR5 ECC memory. It runs Windows 11 Pro and includes an Nvidia RTX 5060 graphics card with 8GB of video memory. The system is built for professionals who need high core counts and large memory capacity in a single desktop chassis.

1200W power supply with liquid cooling

A 360mm AIO cooler handles the CPU while a 1200W 80 PLUS Gold unit with a 140mm fan delivers power. The Corsair 5000D case adds front and rear 120mm fans for chassis airflow. Protection circuits guard against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-power and short-circuit events during sustained workloads.

8TB NVMe plus 10TB HDD storage

Two 4TB Samsung 990 PRO drives provide up to 7450 MB/s reads and 6900 MB/s writes over PCIe 4.0 x4. A 10TB SATA hard drive with 256MB cache adds bulk capacity for archives and backups. The motherboard offers four M.2 slots and eight SATA ports for future expansion.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 360 mm liquid cooler on the sTR5 socket, and what step is often missed?

Mount the supplied sTR5 bracket, apply thermal paste, secure the cold plate with the four captive screws in a cross pattern, then connect the pump header and the 360 mm radiator fans to the motherboard fan headers.

Which component will need replacement first under heavy workloads?

The 1200 W PSU uses a 140 mm fan and Japanese capacitors rated for long life; the 10 TB HDD with 256 MB cache has moving parts and will typically reach its endurance limit before the solid-state drives.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained all-core loads on the 64-core Threadripper 9980X?

The CPU can boost to 5.4 GHz, but the 360 mm AIO will hit its heat-dissipation ceiling first, causing the processor to throttle to stay within its thermal envelope.
