Custom 8-Core Liquid-Cooled Gaming Workstation

This desktop combines an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor with 128GB DDR5 memory and a 240mm liquid cooler. A GeForce RTX 5060 8GB graphics card drives modern titles, while a 2TB NVMe SSD and 10TB HDD provide fast boot and mass storage. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate productivity and play.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The 240mm Quiet Edition AIO keeps the CPU at stable temperatures during typical workloads, aided by a 140mm PSU fan rated for low noise. A Thermaltake Smart 850W 80 PLUS Bronze supply delivers efficient power with over-voltage, under-voltage, over-power and short-circuit protection. Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7 2x2 add connectivity without adding audible fans.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under extended sessions the liquid loop maintains consistent clock speeds up to 5.20 GHz across all 16 threads, supported by 96MB L3 cache. The Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drive sustains read and write throughput up to 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s respectively. Rear USB4 40Gbps ports and multiple M.2 slots remain available for expansion without thermal throttling.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 240 mm AIO liquid cooler on the AM5 socket, and what step is often missed?

Mount the supplied AM5 bracket, apply thermal paste, secure the cold plate with the four spring screws in a cross pattern, then connect the pump header and the two 140 mm fan headers to the motherboard; the step most often missed is plugging the pump into the dedicated AIO_PUMP header instead of a standard CPU_FAN header.

Which components will need replacement first during the system's lifespan?

The 140 mm radiator fans on the 240 mm AIO are the only moving parts besides the 10 TB hard drive; expect to replace the fans after several years of continuous operation, and the mechanical drive once its 256 MB cache or SMART data indicates wear.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the Ryzen 7 9800X3D runs at 5.20 GHz boost under sustained load?

The 240 mm Quiet Edition AIO reaches its heat‑dissipation ceiling before the 850 W Bronze PSU hits its over‑power protection, so coolant temperature becomes the limiting factor during prolonged all‑core workloads.
