Workstation for SolidWorks and CAD

This desktop is built around a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processor and an Nvidia RTX PRO 2000 Blackwell GPU with 16GB memory. It targets engineers and designers running SolidWorks, CAD, CAM and CAE modelling workloads. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro and 192GB of DDR5 memory for large assemblies.

Liquid cooling and 850W Bronze PSU

A 360mm quiet-edition AIO cooler handles the CPU while a Thermaltake Smart 850W 80 PLUS Bronze unit supplies power with Japanese main capacitors. The PSU includes over-voltage, under-voltage, over-power and short-circuit protection. A 140mm fan keeps noise low during typical workloads.

Samsung 990 PRO SSD and 10TB HDD

The 4TB Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0x4 drive delivers sequential reads up to 7450 MB/s and writes up to 6900 MB/s. A 10TB hard drive with 256MB cache adds bulk storage for project archives. Connectivity includes USB4 at 40Gbps, Wi-Fi 7 and Intel 2.5Gb Ethernet.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 360 mm liquid cooler and what step is most often missed?

Mount the radiator with its three 140 mm fans to the case top or front, attach the pump block to the AM5 socket using the supplied back-plate, then connect the pump header and fan headers to the X870 motherboard; the step most people skip is removing the protective film from the cold-plate before seating the block.

Which components will need maintenance or replacement first in this build?

The 360 mm AIO pump and 140 mm radiator fans are the only moving parts besides the 10 TB hard drive; plan to inspect the coolant level and fan bearings every two to three years and replace the HDD if SMART errors appear.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the Ryzen 9 9950X runs sustained all-core loads?

The 16-core CPU can boost to 5.70 GHz but the 360 mm Quiet Edition cooler and 850 W Bronze PSU will hit their thermal and current ceilings before the silicon does, so expect clock speeds to settle below max boost during long renders.
