Purpose-built workstation

This liquid-cooled tower pairs a 32-core Threadripper 9970X with 64GB DDR5 ECC memory and an RTX PRO 2000 16GB GPU. Three Samsung 990 PRO NVMe drives provide 10TB of fast solid-state storage alongside a 10TB SATA hard drive. Windows 11 Pro is installed and the system is described as AI Ready.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that your workload benefits from 32 cores and 64 threads at a 4.0GHz base clock with boost up to 5.4GHz. Confirm the TRX50 motherboard’s rear I/O — two USB4 Type-C, four USB 3.2 Gen 2, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 — matches your peripherals. Ensure the 1200W 80 PLUS Gold power supply meets local voltage and plug requirements.

Build integration

The Corsair 5000D Frame case measures 520 x 245 x 520 mm and includes front and rear 120mm fans plus a 360mm AIO cooler with a 140mm radiator fan. Internal bays offer two 3.5-inch and four 2.5-inch slots for future expansion. Dual LAN ports and mid-board headers with eight SATA and four M.2 connectors free up rear ports for high-speed devices.

Questions about this item

What storage drives come pre-installed and is there room to add more?

The system ships with three Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSDs — one 2 TB and two 4 TB — plus a 10 TB SATA hard drive. The case provides four 2.5-inch and two 3.5-inch internal bays, and the motherboard has four M.2 slots, so additional drives can be fitted.

Should I choose the 2 TB or 4 TB NVMe model for the primary boot drive?

The 2 TB Samsung 990 PRO is already installed as the first M.2 drive and serves as the boot volume. The two 4 TB units are the second and third M.2 drives, giving a total of 10 TB of NVMe storage alongside the 10 TB hard drive.

What does the 5.4 GHz boost clock mean for real workloads on this 32-core Threadripper?

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9970X has a base frequency of 4.0 GHz and can boost up to 5.4 GHz on lightly threaded tasks, while its 32 cores and 64 threads deliver sustained multi-thread performance for rendering, simulation and AI workloads.
