Threadripper 9980X 64-Core Workstation

This desktop workstation centres on a 64-core AMD Threadripper 9980X processor running at 3.2 GHz with up to 5.4 GHz boost. It ships with 512 GB of DDR5 ECC memory and a 1600 W 80+ Titanium power supply. The system targets professionals who need maximum core count and memory capacity for compute-intensive workloads.

PCIe 4.0 NVMe and SATA III storage limits

The 4 TB Samsung 990 PRO SSD operates over a PCIe 4.0 x4 link, delivering sequential reads up to 7450 MB/s and writes up to 6900 MB/s. The 10 TB hard drive connects via SATA III at 6 Gb/s with a 256 MB cache. Neither drive can exceed the bandwidth ceiling of its respective interface.

RTX 5090 32 GB GPU determines graphics fit

The installed Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 provides 32 GB of video memory for rendering, simulation and AI tasks. Buyers who need multiple GPUs or a different GPU memory configuration must request a custom build. This single-card configuration cannot be expanded without contacting the builder.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512GB DDR5 ECC memory or add more capacity for larger datasets?

The workstation ships with 512GB DDR5 ECC across eight slots on the WRX90E-SAGE SE motherboard; all slots are populated, so any increase would require replacing modules rather than adding to them.

What does the Threadripper 9980X 64-core 3.2GHz spec deliver when the system is under sustained load?

The 64-core 128-thread processor runs at a 3.2GHz base clock and can boost individual cores up to 5.4GHz, with the 360mm liquid cooler keeping temperatures stable during extended multi-threaded workloads.

How fast is the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB NVMe drive on the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface in everyday use?

The drive is rated for sequential reads up to 7450 MB/s and writes up to 6900 MB/s over PCIe 4.0 x4, so large project files and OS operations load at near-peak interface speed.
