3 m LC-to-SC OM4 duplex patch cable

This 3 metre aqua cable connects LC male and SC male connectors in a duplex configuration. It is built to the OM4 multimode specification with a 50 micron core. The riser-rated OFNR jacket suits indoor vertical runs between floors. Installers use it for 10 Gigabit Ethernet links up to 550 metres and 100 Gigabit Ethernet links up to 150 metres.

Distance limits for OM4 multimode fibre

OM4 fibre supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at distances up to 550 metres and 100 Gigabit Ethernet at distances up to 150 metres. Beyond those lengths signal attenuation and modal dispersion exceed the IEEE limits for error-free operation. The cable is reverse compatible with OM3 infrastructure, but the distance ceiling remains defined by the OM4 grade. Buyers needing longer single-mode reach should select OS2 cable instead.

Riser-rated jacket and duplex construction

The OFNR riser rating means the cable meets fire-safety requirements for vertical shafts and general indoor routing. A duplex zipcord bundles two fibres so each transceiver can transmit and receive simultaneously. LC and SC connectors feature ceramic ferrules that withstand repeated mating cycles. The aqua jacket colour identifies OM4 grade at a glance during moves, adds or changes.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the aqua OM4 duplex cable or a different colour for 10 Gigabit links?

The aqua jacket identifies OM4 multimode fibre with a 50 micron core, rated for 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 550 metres and 100 Gigabit Ethernet up to 150 metres, so it matches those speeds.

What does the 550 metre figure mean when the cable is only 3 metres long?

The 550 metre rating is the maximum channel length for 10 Gigabit Ethernet over OM4 fibre; your 3 metre patch cord simply operates well within that limit.

How does the LC to SC duplex connector pair affect the link speed?

The duplex LC and SC connectors provide separate transmit and receive fibres, enabling full-duplex operation at the OM4 rated speeds of 10 Gigabit up to 550 metres and 100 Gigabit up to 150 metres.
