USB 2.0 A-to-B extension cable 1.8 m

This AddOn cable extends a USB 2.0 connection by 1.8 metres. It has a Type A male plug on one end and a Type B male plug on the other. The cable is coloured black and is intended for devices such as printers or scanners. It carries a three-year limited warranty from the manufacturer.

Suitable uses and limits

The cable suits anyone who needs extra reach between a host port and a Type B peripheral. It is not for users who require USB 3.0 or higher data rates. It also cannot connect two Type A ports or two Type B ports directly. Buyers needing a different connector combination should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification — USB 2.0 Type A to Type B

The single specification that determines compatibility is the USB 2.0 Type A male to Type B male connector pairing. Only devices with a matching Type B port will work with this cable. Verify the port type on your peripheral before purchase.

Questions about this item

Yes, USB 2.0 is backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices, so the cable will carry data at the older standard's speed.

How can I verify the cable is functioning correctly after connecting my scanner?

The scanner should be recognised by the operating system immediately and transfer data without errors or intermittent disconnects.

Does the package include only the 1.8 m black cable or are any adapters supplied?

The box contains the 1.8 m USB 2.0 Type A male to Type B male cable only; no adapters or additional accessories are included.
