Questions about this item

Does the Adesso NUSCAN 2900 need a host device with Bluetooth or a free USB port for the 2.4GHz dongle?

The scanner offers three connection modes: Bluetooth for mobile devices, a 2.4GHz wireless USB dongle for long-range desktop use, and a direct USB wired mode, so it works with any host that supports one of those interfaces.

Will the 640x480 CMOS sensor still read older 1D barcodes like UPC/EAN and Code 39 alongside newer 2D codes?

Yes, the engine reads both 1D symbologies such as UPC/EAN, Code 39 and Code 128, and 2D formats including QR Code, Data Matrix and PDF417, with a minimum resolution of 4.7 mil for 1D and 10 mil for 2D.

How can I verify the NUSCAN 2900 is scanning at the rated 24 inches per second motion tolerance after setup?

Move a test barcode past the scanner at walking speed; the wide scan angles of roll ±360°, pitch ±70° and yaw ±70° combined with the 12-inch depth of field should produce a successful read without precise alignment.
