The Aeon Labs ZWA005 is a Z-Wave Plus TriSensor that detects motion, temperature and ambient light in a single wireless unit. It is built for homeowners who want automated lighting, climate control or security alerts without running cables. The device works with any compatible Z-Wave hub and mobile app to push notifications when movement is sensed. It is not suited for buyers who need integrated video verification or sensors that operate on proprietary non-Z-Wave platforms.

Z-Wave Plus Certified with S2 Security

Z-Wave Plus certification ensures broad interoperability with major hubs and controllers, while S2 security adds advanced encryption, stronger anti-hacking protection, faster automation response and improved battery efficiency. The compact form factor allows placement on walls, shelves or outdoor eaves using the supplied bracket or adhesive. Motion detection reaches 31 feet for standard monitoring and up to 263 feet indoors or 328 feet outdoors in optimal conditions. No wired power or Ethernet backhaul is required.

Mounting Hardware and App Integration

The package includes a mounting bracket and adhesive strip so the sensor can be fixed indoors or outdoors without tools. Once paired to a compatible Z-Wave controller, the mobile app lets users create automations that trigger lights, thermostats or motorised blinds based on motion, temperature or light-level thresholds. Temperature range spans 14 °F to 122 °F (-10 °C to 50 °C) and the light sensor covers 0 to 3 000 lux with ±3 % accuracy. There is no built-in siren, battery charger or cloud subscription service included.
