Dual-band 802.11ac access point

The Aerohive AP250 delivers dual-band Wi-Fi on 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz with a wireless transmission speed of 1.27 Gbit/s. It draws power through 802.3af PoE so no separate mains adapter is required. The unit supports 3x3:3 MU-MIMO and includes a built-in BLE radio for location services. Mounting hardware for ceiling tiles and walls is supplied.

Suited for PoE-only installs

Organisations that want a ceiling- or wall-mountable AP powered entirely by existing PoE switches will find this model a direct fit. The software-configurable radios can run dual 5 GHz operation for high-density areas. Buyers who need a unit that also accepts a DC power jack should look elsewhere.

1.27 Gbit/s wireless transmission speed

The headline data rate of 1.27 Gbit/s determines whether the AP250 matches the throughput target for a given deployment. If the design calls for higher aggregate throughput the specification will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

What ceiling grid size does the included flush mount fit?

The supplied ceiling-tile flush bracket fits a standard 15/16 inch grid.

How is the unit powered and what cabling step is often missed?

It draws power through 802.3af PoE, so the Ethernet cable must connect to a PoE-capable switch or injector; a plain data-only link will not power the AP.

When should the mounting hardware be checked after installation?

Inspect the wall-mount locking bracket and ceiling clips after any building vibration or ceiling-tile replacement to confirm the AP remains secure.
