Professional Wire Tracer Kit for Technicians
The aFe Power 200EP tone generator kit is designed for electricians and network technicians who trace and identify cables during maintenance. It includes an inductive amplifier and tone generator for locating wires in telecommunications and computer network installations. The kit suits professionals working on low-voltage systems up to 24V.
Test Limits at 24 Volts and 30 dB Gain
The tracer operates on circuits below 24V and provides a nominal gain of 30dB with 100M Ohm input impedance. It identifies line status such as clear, busy or ringing conditions and detects short circuits. The tool is intended for short-distance testing and is not rated for higher voltage mains wiring.
Battery Powered Probe with Spring Switch
The unit requires two 9V batteries which are not supplied in the package. A spring loaded on/off button and recessed termination port allow single handed operation while protecting the connection ports. Adjustable volume and a built in speaker give audible alerts during cable tracking.

Questions about this item
Which version of the 200EP kit should I choose for standard low-voltage tracing?
The single 200EP kit with inductive amplifier covers tracing, short-circuit testing and line-status identification on circuits up to 24 V.
What does the 30 dB gain figure mean when I am tracing a wire in a real installation?
A nominal 30 dB gain lets the inductive amplifier pick up the injected tone through insulation so you can follow the correct conductor without direct contact.
How does the 100 MΩ input impedance affect what the tracer can detect in practice?
The 100 MΩ input impedance presents a very light load, allowing the probe to sense tone on high-impedance or unloaded cables without pulling the signal down.
