Pocket compass two-pack

This Airwheel Rovella mini compass comes in a pair of blue aluminium-alloy units, each measuring 44 by 44 by 10 mm and weighing 0.02 lb. The magnetic needle settles quickly to show north, south, east and west for basic land navigation. A stainless-steel pull ring clips to a zipper, belt loop or pack strap so the compass stays within reach. The set suits hikers, campers, hunters and classroom demonstrations where a simple, rugged direction finder is needed.

Upgrade from improvised methods

Replacing guesswork, phone apps that drain batteries or bulky base-plate models, these compasses give an instant analogue bearing without power or signal. The jump is worth it when you need a backup that survives water, dust and rough handling while adding almost no weight to a pocket or lanyard. They are not for users who require adjustable declination, a sighting mirror or luminous markings for night use.

Magnetic-needle limits

Accuracy depends on holding the compass level and keeping it away from ferrous metal, magnets or electronic devices that deflect the needle. The 44 mm dial has no rotating bezel, so plotting a precise bearing on a map requires a separate protractor. Extreme tilt or nearby magnetic interference will cause the reading to drift, and the compass cannot be recalibrated in the field.

Questions about this item

How large is the 44 mm aluminum alloy case so I know if it fits my key ring?

The case measures 44 mm by 44 mm and only 10 mm thick, so it slides onto a standard key ring or zipper pull without adding bulk.

What is the correct way to level the compass and align the needle with the N mark?

Hold the compass flat until the needle settles, then rotate the housing until the needle sits over the printed N; the base dial now shows your true heading.

Will the magnet lose strength if I store the compass near other magnetic items?

Yes — keep it away from speakers, phone mounts or magnetic clasps, because prolonged exposure can weaken the needle’s polarity.
