275 lb Swivel Plate Caster

This Albion Inc. swivel plate caster carries a 275 lb load rating and rolls on a 4 in thermoplastic rubber wheel with a plastic core. The non‑marking tread protects finished floors while the NSF‑listed construction suits food‑service and medical environments. A side pedal brake locks the wheel for stationary stability.

Build Quality and Daily Use

The plate mounting bolts directly to carts, work tables or equipment frames for a secure fit. Thermoplastic rubber tread resists flat‑spotting and rolls quietly over thresholds and smooth concrete. The side pedal brake engages with a foot press so operators can lock and release without bending down.

Practical Limits of the Standard

The 275 lb capacity defines the maximum load per caster; exceeding it risks premature wear or sudden failure. The brake locks wheel rotation only and does not prevent swivel movement under side loads. Thermoplastic rubber performs best on indoor surfaces and may degrade faster on rough outdoor terrain or under continuous heavy impact.

Questions about this item

What load does the NSF-listed plate caster support in practice?

The caster is rated for 275 lb, so it handles that weight when mounted correctly.

What plate bolt pattern is needed to mount the 4 in thermoplastic rubber wheel?

The swivel plate uses a standard four-hole pattern; match the hole spacing to your cart or wheelbarrow frame.

How is the side pedal brake engaged, and what step is often missed?

Press the side pedal down until it locks the wheel; the common miss is not verifying full engagement before loading.
