ER5356 3/64 16 lb Aluminium MIG Wire
This new Alcotec welding wire is supplied on a 16 lb steel spool and carries AWS classification ER5356. It is manufactured for MIG welding aluminium to aluminium in flat, horizontal, overhead and vertical-up positions using DCEP current.
Suited to fabricators working
Welders who need a different wire diameter, a different alloy series or a non-steel spool should select another product. The wire is restricted from sale in California because it contains a chemical known to the state to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
0.047 in diameter with 46 ksi tensile strength
The 3/64 inch diameter and 46 ksi as-welded tensile strength are the primary figures that determine whether this spool matches the joint design and procedure specification. Yield strength is 30 ksi as welded with 100 percent argon shielding and 19 ksi minimum required.

Questions about this item
What does the 46 ksi tensile strength mean once the wire is in my MIG gun?
The 46 ksi tensile strength is the as-welded pull resistance of the deposited aluminium; it shows the joint can handle that stress level after cooling.
How does the ER5356 classification and DCEP current designation limit what I can weld?
ER5356 designates a 5356-series aluminium alloy for MIG welding with direct-current electrode-positive polarity, restricting use to aluminium-to-aluminium joints in flat, horizontal, overhead or vertical-up positions.
Will the 16 lb steel spool with 0.047 in wire fit my wire feeder?
The wire comes on a 16 lb steel spool at 0.047 in diameter; confirm your feeder accepts that spool weight and wire size before purchasing.
