Four-Drawer Lateral File for Office Use

This Alera lateral file cabinet provides four drawers with side-to-side hanging rails that accept both letter- and legal-size folders. The steel construction has a black powder-coated finish and measures 54" H x 30" W x 19 1/4" D. A central lock secures all drawers on both sides, and full-width pulls allow easy opening.

Suited for Organised Document Storage.

The cabinet suits offices that need high-capacity filing with letter and legal compatibility in a single unit. The interlocking system permits only one drawer open at a time, and a counterweight adds stability. Buyers with limited floor area or who need mobile pedestal units should consider other configurations.

Ball-Bearing Slides and Leveling Glides Enhance

Full-extension ball-bearing suspensions give smooth, full drawer access. Four adjustable leveling glides compensate for uneven floors. Double-wall reinforced drawer fronts and rolled-edge sides increase rigidity. Alera cabinets ship keyed alike; different keying requires a special order.

Questions about this item

What floor space and clearance do I need for a 30" wide by 54" high lateral file?

Allow at least 30 inches of width and 19 1/4 inches of depth for the cabinet footprint, plus room in front for full drawer extension on ball-bearing slides.

Can I use the existing central lock if I add another Alera cabinet keyed the same?

Yes, Alera cabinets ship keyed alike so the central lock on this unit will operate with matching cabinets unless you special-order different keys.

How do I confirm the interlock and counterweight are working after assembly?

Open one drawer fully — the interlock should block the other three — then verify the cabinet does not tip when the loaded drawer is extended.
