Compact two-drawer pedestal

The Alera ALEPAFFCH is a 27-3/4" high steel filing pedestal finished in charcoal. Two 12" high file drawers hold letter or legal folders, and a counterweight prevents the unit from tipping when a drawer is fully extended. Four casters, two of them locking, let the cabinet roll under a desk or stay fixed in place.

Full-extension slides with legal conversion

Steel ball-bearing suspension gives the file drawers full-length extension so every folder stays visible. A supplied conversion bar adjusts each drawer for legal-width documents without extra parts. The 3/4 extension on box drawers is not applicable here because the unit ships with a file/file configuration only.

Replaces stationary cabinets needing mobility

Swapping a fixed cabinet for this pedestal adds lockable mobility and anti-tip safety in the same 14 7/8" width. The upgrade is worth it when desks are rearranged frequently or when shared workspaces need secure, movable filing. It does not suit buyers who need more than two drawers or a wider footprint for high-volume storage.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the caster or glide option for the ALEPAFFCH pedestal?

Choose the four casters if you need to move the unit often; two of them lock to keep it steady. Choose the four glides if the pedestal will stay in one spot.

What does the 27-3/4 inch height mean for desk placement?

The 27-3/4" overall height fits under most standard desks, leaving enough clearance for a chair to slide beneath the work surface.

How does the steel ball-bearing slide suspension affect daily use?

File drawers open with full-length extension so you reach the back folder easily; box drawers extend 3/4 of their depth for quick access to supplies.
