Pedestal File Cabinet for Under-Desk Use

The Alera ALEVA542822GY is a gray pedestal file cabinet designed to attach beneath a worksurface rather than stand alone. It provides two drawers that accommodate both legal and letter-size documents, making it suited for office workers who need secure filing within arm's reach.

Locking Drawers and Fold-Away Keys

Full-extension ball bearing slides let each drawer open completely for easy access to files at the back. The drawers lock to secure contents, and two fold-away safety keys are included so the key profile stays slim when not in use.

Sturdy Construction with Protective Edges

Four-sided drawer construction with a separate front panel adds rigidity, while 3 mm edge banding protects the cabinet from everyday bumps and dings. The unit is sold as a single piece and must be mounted under a worksurface for stability.

Questions about this item

Do the full-extension ball bearing slides on the file drawers need periodic lubrication?

The ball bearing slides are sealed and require no lubrication; wipe away dust with a dry cloth if movement feels stiff.

What stops the drawers from tipping the unit when both are fully extended?

The cabinet must be secured under a worksurface; it is not freestanding and relies on that attachment for stability.

How much heat does the locking mechanism add during all-day use?

The lock is passive and generates no heat; the cabinet itself produces no measurable warmth during normal operation.
