Two-Drawer Mobile Pedestal File

The Alera PA54-2820BL is a steel mobile pedestal designed for office environments that need secure, lockable filing within arm’s reach. It suits administrators, home-office workers and small-business teams who want letter and legal documents organised without a full-size cabinet. Two 12-inch high file drawers provide dedicated space for hanging folders.

Capacity and headroom

Each file drawer runs on full-length ball-bearing slides so the drawer extends completely, giving unobstructed access to the rearmost files. The high-sided construction accepts both letter and legal widths without adapters. A built-in counterweight keeps the unit stable when a heavily loaded drawer is open, preventing the tipping risk common on lighter pedestals.

Build quality and daily use

Four visible casters, two of them locking, let the pedestal roll under a desk or beside a workstation and stay fixed when parked. Recessed drawer pulls sit flush with the face, reducing snag points in tight aisles. Steel ball-bearing suspension on all drawers delivers consistent glide over repeated cycles, and the black finish resists fingerprints in shared-office traffic.

Questions about this item

Will the 14 7/8" wide pedestal fit beside my existing desk without tipping when I open the drawers?

The built-in counterweight keeps the unit stable even when both 12" high file drawers are fully extended.

How can I confirm the steel ball-bearing slides are operating correctly after assembly?

Each drawer should glide smoothly — box drawers travel three-quarters of their depth and file drawers reach full extension without binding.

Does the package include the pencil tray and divider shown for the box drawers, or must I order them separately?

Both the pencil tray and one divider come pre-installed in the box drawers; no extra parts are required.
