Light Gray Two-Drawer File Pedestal

This Alera pedestal provides two high-sided file drawers that accept letter or legal hanging files. Steel ball-bearing slides give full-extension travel on each drawer. Four casters, two of them locking, allow easy repositioning. A counterweight and core-changeable lock add security and stability for office or home workspaces.

Smooth Operation and Stable Mobility

Ball-bearing telescoping slides let the 12-inch-high drawers glide quietly without binding. The counterweight prevents tipping when a drawer is fully extended. Two locking casters hold the unit in place while two non-locking casters keep it manoeuvrable. The full-length pull eliminates the need for separate handles and reduces catch points.

File/File Configuration with Legal Support

The unit ships in a file/file layout with two 12-inch drawers and includes a legal conversion bar for longer documents. A single keyed lock secures both drawers and the core can be swapped for keyed-alike installations. Without casters the pedestal stands 27 inches high, matching standard desk heights.

Questions about this item

How do I install the casters and which step is often missed?

Attach the four casters — two locking and two non-locking — to the base; the step people miss is engaging both locking casters so the pedestal will not roll when loaded.

What maintenance will the steel ball bearing slides need later?

Wipe the slides clean and apply a light dry lubricant if the drawers start to drag; the full-extension file drawers and 3/4-extension box drawers share the same suspension design.

What is the first limit reached during sustained daily use?

The counterweight anti-tip mechanism is calibrated for the 12-inch high file drawers; overloading them beyond normal hanging-file capacity will defeat the tip protection first.
