Mini Media Converter RJ-45 to SFP

The Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/SP-960 connects a 10/100/1000Base-T copper link to an SFP fibre transceiver at 850 nm. It suits installers extending a Gigabit Ethernet segment over multimode fibre in commercial or campus environments. The unit also converts speed between the copper and fibre interfaces while passing IEEE 802.1Q tagged frames transparently.

500-metre multimode reach and 2K MAC table

The converter supports 50/125 µm and 62.5/125 µm multimode cable up to 500 m. A 2K-entry MAC address table and store-and-forward switching handle typical workgroup traffic. Jumbo frames up to 10K bytes pass through. It is not for links exceeding 500 m or for single-mode fibre runs.

Fanless operation from 0 °C to 50 °C

The sealed enclosure runs without a fan across the rated 0 °C to 50 °C range at up to 95 % relative humidity. A locking 12 V DC jack secures the external power supply against accidental disconnection. Wall-mount brackets are available separately for fixed installations.

Questions about this item

Will the AT-MMC2000/SP-960 connect my older 10/100Base-T switch to a Gigabit SFP uplink?

Yes, the copper port supports 10/100/1000Base-T with auto-negotiation, so it links at the highest common speed with legacy 10 or 100 Mbps gear while the SFP side runs at 1000 Mbps.

How do I verify the AT-MMC2000/SP-960 is operating correctly after installation?

Check the per-port Link/Activity LEDs; a solid link light on both RJ-45 and SFP ports plus blinking activity confirms store-and-forward switching and valid 850 nm fiber continuity up to 500 m.

Does the AT-MMC2000/SP-960 include the SFP transceiver and power supply, or must I buy them separately?

The unit ships with a 12 VDC locking power supply; the SFP transceiver is not included and must be purchased separately to match your 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm fiber.
