Pocket drill for precision hobby work

The AM ARROWMAX SDS MINI is a pen-sized electric drill that runs at 900 RPM from a 500 mAh LiPo battery. It ships with ten HSS bits covering 0.6 mm to 2.2 mm diameters on a 2.35 mm shank, all stored in an aluminium case. The metal body measures 7.28 in by 2.76 in by 1.18 in and weighs 0.249 kg. Four LEDs at the chuck illuminate the work area while a charge indicator shows remaining power.

Sustained use on light materials

The motor delivers steady rotation for drilling plastic, shell and wood during extended modelling or jewellery sessions. Battery level is monitored through the integrated LEDs so you can recharge before output drops. The tool cannot operate while plugged in; a full charge is required before each work period.

Upgrade from hand pin vises

This kit replaces manual pin vises and bulky rotary tools when you need consistent speed on small holes. The jump is worthwhile for hobbyists who drill dozens of tiny holes per project and want one-handed control with built-in lighting. It is not suited for heavy stock removal, large-diameter bits or continuous production runs.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the 900 RPM drill pen get during long sessions?

The metal body stays cool and the motor runs quietly at 900 RPM, so heat and noise stay low even after continuous use.

What must I already own to start drilling with this kit?

Only a standard USB-A port or charger is needed; the kit includes the drill pen, 10 HSS bits, a USB-A to USB-C cable, manual and aluminium case.

Will the 2.35 mm shaft bits fit my older rotary tools or drill presses?

Yes, the 10 HSS bits use a universal 2.35 mm shaft that matches most hobby rotary tools and small drill presses.
