What this knife is and who it is for

The Amazon Basics DS-CKAMZ019 is a folding utility knife with a 5.5 inch profile and a red aluminum handle. It suits warehouse staff, tradespeople and home users who need a compact cutter for boxes, rope, carpet, plastic, leather and wallpaper. The lock-back mechanism secures the blade during use while the anti-slip grip aids control. It is not for buyers who want a fixed-blade knife or a tool that accepts only proprietary blades.

Practical limits of the lock-back design

The back-lock holds the blade open but must be released manually before folding, so one-handed closing is not possible. Blade changes rely on standard-sized blades; non-standard or extra-long blades will not fit the quick-change mechanism. The stainless steel housing resists corrosion yet the folding hinge adds a moving part that can collect debris in dusty environments. The knife ships as a single unit with no spare blades included.

What to check before ordering

Confirm that your workflow allows a two-step fold action rather than an automatic retract. Verify that the 5.5 inch folded length fits your pocket, belt pouch or tool organizer. Ensure you have a supply of standard utility blades for replacement. The red finish is cosmetic only and does not indicate a safety rating.
