Duplex Sheetfed Scanner for Documents & Cards

The Ambir DS490-A3P is a USB-powered sheetfed scanner that captures both sides of a page or plastic card in a single pass. It handles media up to 8.5 x 14 inches and supports plain paper, ID cards, business cards, receipts and insurance cards. The compact unit measures 2.1 x 2.6 x 12.2 inches and weighs 1.29 lbs.

Suited for Front-Desk & Mobile Workflows

Reception desks, mobile notaries and remote Citrix or RDS sessions benefit from the small footprint and straight-to-PDF output via the bundled ScanLink Pro software. Offices needing automatic document feeding for multi-page batches or network-attached scanning without a host PC should consider other devices.

600 dpi Optical Resolution

The CMOS CIS sensor delivers 600 dpi optical resolution with 48-bit colour and 8-bit greyscale depth. This single figure determines whether text on cards and fine detail on documents will be captured clearly enough for archiving or OCR.

Questions about this item

Does the DS490-A3P need an external power supply, or does it draw power through the USB connection?

The scanner draws power directly from the USB port, so no separate power adapter is required.

Can the DS490-A3P scan both sides of a driver's licence or insurance card in one pass?

Yes, the duplex mechanism captures the front and back of plastic cards such as licences or insurance cards simultaneously.

How can I verify that the 600 dpi optical resolution is active after installing the TWAIN driver?

Open the ScanLink Pro or TWAIN interface, set the resolution to 600 dpi, scan a test page, and check the image properties to confirm the DPI value.
