Records up to 16 IP cameras at 4K resolution with 8 built-in PoE ports and a pre-installed 2 TB drive
The Amcrest NV4116E-HS is a new network video recorder that supports up to sixteen IP cameras at resolutions up to 8MP. It includes eight built-in PoE ports for direct camera power and data connections. A 2TB hard drive comes pre-installed and the unit accepts drives up to 6TB. Recording uses H.265 compression to extend storage duration.
This recorder fits sites that want sixteen channels and up to eight powered ports in a single appliance. It is not for buyers who need more than eight PoE ports without adding an external switch. It is not for installations that require more than 80Mbps total incoming bandwidth. It is not for users who need AI analytics on more than two channels simultaneously.
The recorder handles a maximum of 80Mbps of incoming camera traffic. At default H.264 settings it can record seven 4K streams; switching to H.265 and lowering each camera to 1792kbps allows eight 4K streams. Exceeding the bandwidth limit forces a reduction in camera count, resolution or frame rate.

The 80 Mbps cap allows seven 4K cameras at default H.264 settings, or eight 4K cameras if you switch each stream to H.265 and lower the bit rate to 1792 kbps.
The unit has eight built-in PoE ports, so up to eight wired IP cameras can be powered and networked directly without extra switches.
Power on the recorder first, let it initialise the internal 2 TB drive, then connect cameras to the PoE ports one by one; adding cameras before the drive finishes initialising often causes them to stay offline.
