AMD Refurbished
Six-core desktop CPU with 12 threads, 3.9 GHz base clock, 5.4 GHz max boost, 38 MB total cache, integrated Radeon graphics, DDR5-5600 support, and 65 W TDP on the AM5 platform
The AMD Ryzen 5 9600X is a 6-core, 12-thread desktop processor built on the Zen 5 architecture. It runs at a 3.9 GHz base clock and can boost up to 5.4 GHz. Integrated Radeon graphics operate at 2200 MHz. The chip fits Socket AM5 motherboards and supports DDR5 5600 memory across two channels up to 192 GB.
Moving from a Socket AM4 platform means a new motherboard and DDR5 memory, so the jump is worthwhile when you need PCIe 5.0 bandwidth, higher memory speeds or the 38 MB total cache for gaming and multitasking. The 65 W TDP keeps power draw modest while delivering 100+ FPS in popular titles.
Builders targeting high-refresh 1080p or 1440p gaming on a B650, X670 or newer chipset will benefit. Users who need more than six cores for heavy rendering, or who want a bundled cooler, should consider higher-core Ryzen 7 or 9 models instead.

The processor uses the Socket AM5 platform; cooler compatibility depends on the specific cooler's mounting kit, so check the cooler manufacturer's specifications for AM5 support.
Clean both surfaces, apply a pea-sized dot of paste on the centre of the heatspreader, mount the cooler with even pressure in a cross pattern, and remember to connect the fan header to the CPU_FAN socket on the motherboard.
Choose an air or liquid cooler rated for at least 65 W TDP with an AM5 mounting kit; the processor does not ship with a stock cooler, so a separate purchase is required.
