Indoor climate monitor for home and greenhouse

The American Weigh USHM5-BK is a digital thermometer and hygrometer built for rooms where temperature and humidity must be watched continuously. It suits homeowners, plant growers and anyone who needs a clear reading in a bedroom, office, cellar or greenhouse.

Steady readings every three seconds

A built-in sensor behind 27 vents samples the air every three seconds and refreshes the display in five seconds. Temperature tolerance stays within ±.5 °C across a range of -58 to 158 °F and humidity reads from 1 to 99 % RH with a ±2 % RH step.

Backlit display with comfort icons

The 3.05 in LCD shows bold numbers and a three-colour face icon that marks air as dry, comfort or wet. Two AAA cells (included) power the unit for 18 to 24 months and the backlight activates with a single press for low-light viewing.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the USHM5-BK generate when it runs continuously?

The USHM5-BK is a passive sensor with no active cooling or heating elements, so it adds negligible heat to the room while monitoring every 3 seconds.

What must I already own to power the USHM5-BK out of the box?

Nothing extra — two AAA alkaline batteries are included and provide 18 to 24 months of operation before replacement.

Will the USHM5-BK’s magnetic mount interfere with vintage thermostats or analog gauges nearby?

The built-in magnet is designed only for mounting the unit itself; it is not strong enough to affect mechanical thermostats or analog instruments placed nearby.
