18 Inch Steel Blade

This Ames True Temper snow shovel is a manual tool for clearing hardened snow and ice from driveways and paths. It features an 18 inch steel blade that resists chipping and bending during heavy use. The 37 inch straight wood handle is fitted with a D-grip for secure control and leverage.

Suited for Icy Conditions

Homeowners facing compacted snow or ice buildup will benefit from the steel blade strength, which is up to four times stronger than aluminum. It is not designed for users who need a lightweight pusher for deep, powdery snow accumulation. Buyers requiring an ergonomic bent handle to reduce back strain should look at a different design.

Unassembled 49.5 Inch Height

The product ships unassembled in a single package measuring 49.5 inches high by 18 inches wide by 3.75 inches deep. Final assembly of the wood handle to the steel blade is required before the shovel is ready for use.

Questions about this item

Do I need any tools to attach the 18 inch steel blade to the 37 inch wood handle?

The shovel ships unassembled; the handle and D-grip connect to the blade with the supplied hardware, so no extra tools are required.

Will the 3.75 inch blade depth still clear ice if I keep using my older plastic pusher for light powder?

Yes, the steel blade is designed for hardened snow and ice, while a plastic pusher can still handle fresh powder without damaging either tool.

How can I confirm the 49.5 inch overall height is correct once I assemble the D-grip shovel?

Measure from the floor to the top of the D-grip; the assembled length should match the listed 49.5 inches.
