A 240W 19.5V 12.3A AC adapter with 7.4mm x 5.0mm connector for Dell Alienware and Precision laptops
This 240W proprietary power adapter delivers 19.5V at 12.3A for compatible Dell Alienware and Precision laptops. It replaces the PA-9E family of chargers and fits models such as the Alienware 17 R4 and Precision 7730. The 7.4mm by 5.0mm connector with centre pin matches the original equipment specification.
The unit accepts 100-240V input at 3.5A across 50-60Hz mains supplies worldwide. Internal smart circuitry provides over-current, over-voltage, short-circuit, over-heating, overload and surge protection during normal operation. No active cooling fan is fitted, so the adapter runs silently while supplying up to 240W continuous power.
The brick measures approximately 7.8 by 3.93 by 1 inch and ships with a detachable AC power line. Its proprietary connector limits use to the listed Dell Alienware and Precision notebooks; it cannot power devices requiring USB-C PD or standard barrel plugs. The 180W compatibility note means it also covers lower-wattage variants of the same connector family.

Connect the 7.4mm x 5.0mm barrel with centre pin firmly until it clicks, plug the IEC C13 power cord into the brick, then into a 100-240V 50-60Hz outlet; the step often missed is seating the centre pin fully so the laptop detects the 240W rating instead of defaulting to 180W.
The detachable IEC C13 mains lead can be replaced if the plug or cable frays; the brick itself has no user-serviceable parts, so when over-heating or over-voltage protection trips repeatedly the whole 240W unit is swapped.
The 19.5V 12.3A 240W continuous output ceiling is reached before any other constraint; if the laptop draws more the overload protection engages and the adapter shuts down until the load drops.
