Brass Reducer for 3/8 to 1/4 Pipe
This brass reducer connects a 3/8 inch female NPT thread to a 1/4 inch male NPT thread. It suits plumbing and pneumatic systems that require a step-down in pipe size. The fitting meets NSF 61 Annex G standards for drinking-water components. It is built for pressures up to 1200 psi and temperatures from -65 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
Installation uses a 3/4 inch hex
Tighten the fitting with a 3/4 inch wrench on the hex flats to avoid rounding the corners. Apply thread sealant on the male threads before assembly to prevent leaks at the joint. Over-tightening can distort the brass threads and create a leak path. The 1 7/64 inch overall length fits in tight runs where space is limited.
NPT threads seal on taper, not on a gasket
The connection relies on thread interference and sealant rather than a flat face or O-ring. This means the joint must be made up correctly each time it is assembled. The 1200 psi rating applies only when the fitting is installed in a system that does not exceed the material temperature limits. Brass is not suited for highly acidic or ammoniated fluids that cause dezincification.

Questions about this item
How can I confirm the reducer is sealing properly after installation?
Pressurise the line up to the 1200 psi rating and check for leaks at the FNPT and MNPT threads; the brass construction and NSF 61 Annex G compliance indicate reliable sealing when torqued correctly.
What comes with the reducer and what must I supply?
The box contains only the brass reducer fitting measuring 1 7/64 in long with a 3/4 in hex; you must provide pipe thread sealant or tape and the mating 3/8 in and 1/4 in NPT pipes or adapters.
Which version should I choose for a 3/8 in female to 1/4 in male NPT connection?
Select the 706120-0604 model — it is the only variant listed with a 3/8 in FNPT by 1/4 in MNPT configuration, 51/64 in outside diameter and a -65 to 250 °F temperature range.
