NVMe M.2 enclosure with 40Gbps USB4

The UC4M3 accepts M-key or B+M-key NVMe SSDs in the 2280 form factor up to 8TB and connects through a USB4 Type-C port that reaches 40Gbps. An aluminium chassis and built-in fan keep temperatures low during long transfers. Tool-free assembly makes drive swaps quick.

Best for Thunderbolt and USB4 hosts needing

Creative pros and power users with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 computers gain near-internal SSD performance for video projects, large photo libraries or system clones. Machines limited to USB 3.1 or 3.0 will not reach the enclosure’s peak throughput.

40Gbps USB4 Type-C interface decides compatibility

The single port negotiates USB4, Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 at up to 40Gbps, so the host must expose one of those protocols to unlock the 2901MB/s read and 2813MB/s write ceiling. Older USB-only ports fall back to lower speeds.

Questions about this item

What does the 2901 MB/s read figure mean for real-world file transfers?

With a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD the enclosure can sustain sequential reads near 2901 MB/s over USB4 40 Gbps, so large video or project files move in seconds.

How does the USB4 40 Gbps Type-C interface limit performance with different hosts?

The USB4 40 Gbps port is backward compatible with USB 3.1 and USB 3.0, so maximum throughput is capped by the host port's own generation.

What physical SSD sizes and keys does the tool-free tray accept?

The tool-free tray fits 2280 NVMe SSDs with M-key or B+M-key notches up to 8 TB capacity.
