Upgrade from older DisplayPort cables

Replacing a legacy cable with this 2.1 version unlocks 4K at 240 Hz or 2K at 360 Hz for high-refresh gaming. The jump is worth it when your GPU and monitor both support DSC 1.2, VRR, G-Sync or FreeSync at those rates. Older cables cannot carry the required 80 Gbps signal.

DisplayPort 2.1 practical limits

The 80 Gbps HBR link tops out at 16K 60 Hz or 8K 120 Hz with 10-bit HDR and Dolby Vision. Beyond those resolutions you would need compression or a newer standard. Thunderbolt 2 video output is supported, but Thunderbolt 3 or 4 hosts are not addressed by this cable.
