USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable
This cable connects USB-C devices with DisplayPort Alternate Mode to DisplayPort monitors, projectors or HDTVs. It supports DisplayPort 1.4 and is backwards compatible with versions 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1. The 3.3 ft length suits desktop setups where the host and display are close together. It is designed for users who need high-resolution video output from laptops, smartphones or compact workstations.
Upgrades from older DisplayPort cables
Replacing a cable limited to DisplayPort 1.2 or earlier unlocks higher refresh rates at 4K and 2K resolutions. The jump is worthwhile when your source and display both support 4K at 120 Hz or 144 Hz, or 2K at 200 Hz or 240 Hz. It also enables 8K at 60 Hz where the graphics card, monitor and content all meet that specification. Without matching hardware on both ends, the extra bandwidth goes unused.
Practical limits of DisplayPort 1.4 over USB-C
The 32.4 Gbps link allows 8K at 60 Hz, 5K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma and HDR. Signal direction is fixed from USB-C to DisplayPort only; reverse operation is not supported. Thunderbolt 3 hosts are compatible, but the cable does not carry Thunderbolt data or power delivery. Maximum resolution and refresh rate depend entirely on the capabilities of the connected graphics output and display panel.

Questions about this item
What size USB-C port does my device need for this 3.3 ft cable?
The cable uses a USB-C 3.1 connector that plugs directly into any USB-C port supporting DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode.
Which end do I plug in first when setting up this Thunderbolt 3 compatible cable?
Connect the USB-C end to your computer or phone, then the DisplayPort end to the monitor; the cable only carries signals from USB-C to DisplayPort.
How often should I replace this 32.4 Gbps cable to keep 8K at 60 Hz performance?
No scheduled replacement is needed; the cable is passive and maintains its 32.4 Gbps bandwidth unless physically damaged.
