APC NetShelter ATS with 16 NEMA 5-20R outlets

The APC AP4453A NetShelter Automatic Transfer Switch provides redundant power for single-corded network equipment. It accepts two 120 V L5-30P input feeds and distributes power through sixteen NEMA 5-20R receptacles. The unit operates at a 30 A capacity within a 2U rackmount form factor.

Suited for racks needing automatic failover

This switch fits environments where dual 30 A feeds are available and 16 outlets at 20 A rating satisfy the load. It is not for installations requiring a different input connector type or a higher amperage rating than 30 A. Buyers needing more than sixteen output receptacles should look at alternative configurations.

Questions about this item

Will the internal transfer relay need replacement after a certain number of switchovers?

The AP4453A uses a solid-state transfer mechanism with no moving relay contacts, so no relay replacement is scheduled.

At continuous 30 A load, will the 120 V input wiring or the 16 NEMA 5-20R outlets reach their thermal limit first?

Each 5-20R outlet is rated 20 A, but the combined load is capped at the 30 A input, so the 30 A feed is the limiting factor.
