Switched Rack PDU 1U 8×C13

The APC AP7920B is a switched rack power distribution unit that fits a single 1U space. It provides eight IEC 320 C13 outlets with independent on-off control for each connected device. The unit accepts 200-230V input through a front-mounted C14 inlet with a 6.5-foot cord. A digital display shows aggregate current draw in real time.

Suited for remote outlet switching.

Network administrators can reboot individual servers or cycle power to locked-up gear via Web, Telnet, SNMP, SSH or StruxureWare Data Center Expert without visiting the rack. The eight-outlet count limits use in densely populated cabinets that need more than eight C13 connections. The 15A maximum input current and 12A regulatory derated rating restrict total attached load accordingly.

Input-current limit 12A derated

The regulatory derated input current of 12A at 208V or 10A at 230V is the single figure that determines how much equipment the PDU can safely support. Aggregate current shown on the display must remain at or below this limit to avoid tripping the upstream breaker. Operating temperature range is 0-45°C at up to 3000m elevation.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the AP7920B is operating correctly after installation?

The front digital display shows the aggregate current draw in amperes; verify it reads within the 12 A derated limit at 208 V or 10 A at 230 V and that no alarm icons appear.

What ships with the AP7920B and what must I source separately?

The unit includes an attached 6.5 ft (2.4 m) input cord ending in a C14 plug; you must supply eight IEC C13-to-C14 cords for the outlets and a compatible upstream PDU or UPS with a C13 receptacle.

The specs list 12 A at 208 V and 10 A at 230 V — which rating should I plan for?

Plan for the 12 A derated limit when the rack supply is 200–208 V and the 10 A limit when it is 230 V; the PDU auto-ranges across 200 V, 208 V and 230 V inputs.
