1U Switched Metered PDU

The CyberPower PDU81005 is a 1U rackmount power distribution unit that provides switched and metered-by-outlet control over eight IEC-320 C13 outlets. It accepts 100-240V input at 50/60 Hz through a C20 inlet on a 10 ft cord and supports a maximum input current of 20A with a regulatory derated limit of 16A. Network managers who need remote power cycling and per-outlet energy visibility in a single rack space will find it suitable.

Upgrade from basic PDUs

This unit replaces non-switched or aggregate-metered strips by adding outlet-level switching and measurement plus a full IPv4/IPv6 management stack including SNMPv3, HTTPS, SSH, RADIUS, LDAP(S) and Syslog. The jump is worth it when administrators must reboot individual servers, set power-on sequencing or track consumption per device without deploying separate metering hardware. Buyers who only need aggregate current readings or local switching will not use the extra protocols.

Sustained load behaviour

Front-panel LEDs display real-time voltage, frequency, load, current and firmware version so operators can verify steady-state conditions at a glance. The 17.05" x 1.75" x 4.41" chassis weighs 4.63 lbs and relies on passive cooling within the rack airflow; no overload protection is built in, so continuous draw must stay within the 16A derated rating. Remote CLI and Windows AD integration allow automated alerts if currents drift upward during prolonged operation.

Questions about this item

What rack depth and height does the 17.05" x 1.75" PDU81005 require?

The unit occupies 1U of rack height and needs at least 17.05 inches of clear depth plus cable bend radius behind the mounting ears.

Which step is often missed when configuring the RJ45 Ethernet and COM ports for remote management?

After connecting the Ethernet cable, you must assign a static IP or enable DHCP via the front panel or serial console before SNMPv3, HTTPS or SSH will respond.

When should the 10 ft IEC C20 input cord be inspected or replaced?

Inspect the cord and C20 plug annually for cracking, discoloration or loose retention clips; replace immediately if any damage is found.
