The APC AP8931 is a switched rack power distribution unit that delivers 100 to 120 volt output through eight NEMA 5-15R receptacles. It mounts vertically in a 0U form factor and includes a ten-foot input cord with a NEMA 5-15P plug. Remote outlet switching and real-time current metering allow administrators to reboot attached gear and monitor load levels from a web, SNMP or Telnet interface.

Suited for 120 V racks needing outlet control

This unit fits server rooms and network closets that run on 100 to 120 volt, 15 amp single-phase power and require individual outlet on/off control, power sequencing or user-defined overload alarms. It is not for installations that need more than eight outlets, input voltages above 120 volts, or current capacity beyond the 12 amp derated limit. The operating range of minus five to forty-five degrees Celsius also rules out extreme-temperature sites.

15 A NEMA 5-15P input decides compatibility

The PDU draws a maximum of fifteen amps through a standard NEMA 5-15P plug, so the upstream circuit and receptacle must match that rating. If the available feed is twenty amps, uses a different connector, or operates at two hundred volts or higher, this model cannot be used.
