Server Power Extension Cord

The APC AP9877 is a 2.0 metre power cord that connects a C20 inlet to a C19 outlet. It suits data-centre racks and server cabinets where the power distribution unit sits beyond the reach of standard equipment leads.

Thermal and Electrical Behaviour

The cord carries 230 V AC through IEC-320 C20 and IEC 320 C19 connectors rated for continuous server loads. Passive copper conductors generate no audible noise and add negligible heat inside the rack airflow path.

Build Integration

The 6.5 foot length bridges gaps between vertical PDUs and redundant power supplies without excess slack. Builders needing longer runs or different connector combinations must source alternative cable assemblies.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the C19 to C20 cord between my server and PDU, and which orientation mistake should I avoid?

Plug the C19 end into the server power supply and the C20 end into the PDU outlet; forcing the connectors in upside-down bends the pins and prevents a secure lock.

What wear should I check for on the IEC-320 C19 and C20 connectors after extended use?

Inspect the connector housings for cracks, the pins for discolouration or bent tips, and the cable jacket for abrasion near the moulded ends; replace the cord if any damage is visible.

At what point does the 6.5 foot length become a limitation for rack-to-PDU routing?

The 1.98 metre reach suits adjacent rack mounting; longer runs require a higher-rated extension cord rather than daisy-chaining multiple C19-C20 cables.
