Rack-mounted cable management panel

The APC AR8452 is a 2U black panel that occupies two rack units and holds eight data distribution cables for a total of 48 ports. It is built for network administrators who need to organise patch cords and copper LAN connections inside a standard 19-inch cabinet. The unit weighs 1.00 lbs and measures 19.5 inches in height, 3.5 inches in width and 1.0 inches in depth. An installation guide is included for quick deployment.

Steady-state cable density

Under continuous operation the panel maintains its port layout without active components, so performance does not degrade over time. Passive construction means there are no fans, power supplies or electronics that could throttle during sustained load. The fixed 48-port capacity stays constant whether the rack is fully populated or partially used. Cable strain relief depends on the routing discipline applied during installation.

Thermal and acoustic profile

Because the accessory contains no moving parts or powered circuitry, it adds no measurable heat, noise or power draw to the rack environment. The metal chassis simply passes ambient airflow between adjacent equipment. Weight remains 1.00 lbs installed, with shipping weight at 1.50 lbs in a carton measuring 21.0 by 6.0 by 3.3 inches. No electrical budget or cooling allowance is required.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the AR8452 add when it runs all day in a 2U rack?

The panel is a passive metal frame with no fans or power supply, so it generates no heat and makes no noise during continuous operation.

What must I already own to connect the 48 ports on this panel?

You need eight data distribution cables that fit the panel’s cable holders; each cable breaks out to six RJ45 connections for the full 48 ports.

Will the 1.0-inch depth of the AR8452 clear older 1U patch panels mounted directly above or below it?

Yes, the panel is only 25 mm deep and fits in a standard 2U space, leaving ample clearance for adjacent 1U equipment in the same rack.
